Explosion Pressure Sensor / Transducer

Application Examples

  • Dust collectors
  • Spray dryers
  • Ductwork/Pipework
  • Fluidbed
  • Milling systems
  • Elevators

Available Options

  • One, two (confirm) or three (vote) pressure sensor logic configurations.
The PXD pressure transducer from Atex provides continuous monitoring of the Pressure rate-of-rise change in the protected process and signals or fires an explosion protection device when a predetermined explosion pressure rate of rise is detected.

Features

  • Continuous monitoring.
  • Records the pressure data after a triggered event for later analysis.
  • Data can be downloaded in Windows-compatible format.
  • Aseptic stainless-steel assembly.
  • Programmable rate-of-rise feature reduces probability of static triggering.
  • Configurable for different safety integrity levels (redundancy).
  • Due to solid stainless steel construction and ceramic membrane, can be installed in aggressive environments.

Concept and Operation

The sensor continuously monitors the pressure and/or rate-of-rise in a protected vessel or connecting ductwork. It analyses the signal, determines if it fits the parameters associated with an explosion and sends a signal to a system controller. Each Sensor unit is fully programmable for its location, hazard and protected volume. The connected Logic Box is also programmable to meet the configuration needs. On receiving a discharge signal the controller can activate the Dry Chemical Suppression system (sodium Bicarbonate) or Hot Water Suppression system, integrate process control, and notify operations personnel of the event.
